Labor Day

Tomorrow is what we call "Tumbleweed Tuesday" Probably one of the best days in the Hamptons - at least for us locals!! The day after labor day when we get our town back. (Back when people actually stayed away for the winters) Today is the last day for the Citiots to be hogging our streets, our stores and our restaurants. Don't get me wrong, it is nice that they bring all their money here and spend it, but also the prices seem to go up for the summer. It used to be that meant things like

• No more hiding in the house Friday to Monday - you can't go a block with out getting pissed off my some jerk in a Mercedes (no offense to anyone who has one and can actually drive like a human - but most out here can't)
• No more going out to breakfast and have a bunch of 20 something hung over college students smelling like beer and acting like jerks in front of your kids
• No more saying a casual goodmorning to someone you pass on the way out of the gym (cause that is what we do in polite society - just ask the southerners) and getting growled at in return.
• No more watching the drunks stumble to and from Boardy Barn on Sundays (Well except for next Sunday when they are having a fund raiser for the school and it will be all locals - we will wait to get home before we puke - not do it on the side of the road or in the parking lot)
• No more going into a restaurant and having a bunch of snobs talk to one of the best waitresses like they are a piece of shit - Like she brings you what you ordered and you changed your mind, now you yell at her - HEY Jackass - I heard you ask her for that - shut the F%^& up and drink it!!

Of course not all the people who come out here are bad, I was engaged to and dated a weekender for many years,but the ones that are make it really hard to tolerate the rest of then.

Alas, it gets better after tomorrow, and the only people that come out on a regular basis are the ones who own homes here and love the town like the locals. Now to wonder what I can bitch about next week - Oh yeah, back to school and back to work. OK then!!!
